We’re delighted to announce that Bryan Sawyers has been promoted to Fruit & Veg Manager — a well-deserved achievement that reflects his dedication, knowledge, and passion for delivering quality produce to our customers.
Bryan has been part our family for nearly 10 years, with seven of those as Fruit & Veg Supervisor. Over the past decade, he’s become a familiar and trusted face within the department, known for his attention to detail, friendly manner, and commitment to sourcing the very best fruit and vegetables for our hospitality customers.
Working alongside two valued colleagues, Bryan plays a vital role in ensuring we continue to supply the freshest, highest-quality produce to hotels, restaurants, and catering businesses across the region.
A day in the life of our Fruit & Veg Manager
Bryan’s daily responsibilities are varied and fast-paced, reflecting the dynamic nature of the fresh produce industry. His role includes:
Liaising closely with our two trusted suppliers, Sharrocks and Cooksons, both based locally in Preston, to ensure a reliable supply chain.
Monitoring product availability, ensuring customers always have access to seasonal favourites and essential ingredients.
Managing pricing and invoicing, maintaining transparency and consistency for our customers.
Handling customer queries, providing expert advice and quick solutions.
Forecasting around seasonality and demand, so our shelves are always stocked with what’s fresh and in season.
Training and supporting staff members, sharing his extensive product knowledge and passion for quality.
Collaborating with our marketing team to promote our outstanding produce through print and digital channels.
A journey built on experience
Before joining us, Bryan gained valuable retail experience while studying at sixth form, working part-time at Tesco. After completing his studies, he joined Tesco full-time as a Fruit & Veg Team Leader, where he honed his skills in team management and fresh produce operations.
In 2016, Bryan made the move to Pioneer — and we’ve been reaping the benefits of his expertise ever since!
