Pigs-in-blankets aren’t just for Christmas!
Once we started handmaking our own pigs-in-blankets back in 2017, we certainly couldn’t have predicted how popular they would become.
They don’t just sell at Christmas and we’ve come to realise that people love them all year round!
In January of this year, we found ourselves in the midst of a remarkable surge in demand. Sales from January to June were up 161% compared to the previous year; a testament to the growing popularity of pigs-in-blankets being everyone’s favourite at any time of the year.
The numbers speak for themselves:
* January to June 2020: 94 cases – 9,400 individual pigs-in-blankets
* January to June 2021: 139 cases – 13,900 individual pigs-in-blankets
* January to June 2022: 399 cases – 39,900 individual pigs-in-blankets
* January to June 2023: 1,040 cases – 104,000 individual pigs-in-blankets
The figures are astounding, with over 110,000 pigs-in-blankets sold in just six months this year!
Demand has been soaring, so it was time to take production to new heights.
We recently hired four talented and dedicated women who possess the skills for handcrafting each and every pig-in-blanket.

Susan said: “I’ve always made my own pigs-in-blankets at home and my family adore them, so when I got this job, they thought it was just perfect for me!”
With the freshest ingredients at their disposal, they meticulously assemble the pigs-in-blankets, ensuring that each one is a masterpiece. Working four hours each day – Monday to Friday – the team creates each pig-in-blanket from our popular Cumberland sausagemeat.
Another secret to our pigs-in-blankets is our own cured streaky bacon. The streaky bacon, known for its rich flavour and texture, is cured and sliced on-site. The careful selection and preparation of this crucial ingredient adds a touch of perfection to each pig-in-blanket.
The team’s combined efforts allow them to produce approximately 4,000 of these tasty treats per day, totalling 20,000 per week. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence ensures that every pig-in-blanket is perfect!
Last December alone, we sold an astounding 3,260 cases, equating to an impressive 326,000 individual pigs-in-blankets.
