New wheels on the road provides first-class service for all

Just a few weeks ago, we received delivery of our very first Class 1 vehicle.

For many years, our delivery drivers have been making several trips between both our Carlisle and Gateshead depots to ensure stock movement was carried out efficiently and effectively.

In a bid to cut down our journeys and to help reduce both our carbon footprint and fuel usage, we decided to invest in a Class 1 vehicle.

Improved service delivery & competitive pricing

Our business in the north east has grown exponentially over the past two years and we work hard to ensure our Gateshead depot customers receive a first-class delivery service at all times. Not only does our shiny, new wagon travel the A69 to serve our north east customers, but its journeys ensure all our customers receive a great service every time.

We also use the vehicle to collect container orders from many of our suppliers and manufacturers. This means we can bulk buy at competitive prices and we’re able to pass savings onto our customers.

Now here’s the technical info:

The new tractor unit is a DAF XF460 with a Solomon trailer.

This Class 1 vehicle carries a capacity of 24 pallets of ambient, chilled or frozen stock. The payload of the truck is 24 tonnes and the total weight of the vehicle is 44 tonnes. It’s a sleek and efficient form of transportation.

Local businesses working to support each other

In a bid to support local, we always buy our vehicles from a local business and this was no exception. We bought the cab and trailer from Solway DAF who are based at Kingstown Industrial Estate in Carlisle. We always use Cubby Signs to carry out our vehicle wraps and they made a first-class job of ensuring our branding stood out!
