Our food show was a record-breaker!

After a six year absence, our food show was back and it was bigger and better than ever.

Held on Tuesday, 11th March, at the Carlisle Racecourse, the event attracted 1,100 visitors and showcased an impressive 97 suppliers, making it the busiest one-day show in our history.

From established industry giants to local artisans, the food show was a vibrant celebration of quality produce, innovation, and culinary excellence. Renowned brands such as Whitby Seafoods, Lamb Weston, Heinz, and Coca-Cola were among the many household names present, drawing significant attention from attendees.

However, it wasn’t just the big brands that stole the show—local businesses also had a chance to shine, with Lakes Ice Cream, Allendale Brewery, Fentimans and many others showcasing their unique products.

Adding even more excitement to the event, new suppliers made their debut, bringing fresh flavours and innovative concepts to the table. Mr Vikki’s, known for their artisanal spicy condiments, and Lovingly Artisan, a bakery specialising in handcrafted sourdough breads, made a strong impression with their high-quality offerings. Also, Three Hills Gelato from Torpenhow showed off their stunning gelatos and sorbets, wowing customers.

The atmosphere throughout the day was electric, with buyers, chefs, and business owners engaging in tastings, networking, and discovering the latest trends in the foodservice industry. Suppliers had the opportunity to showcase their latest products, allowing attendees to sample, discuss, and place orders for the coming weeks.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Graham Jenkins our MD, expressed his delight, saying, “This year’s food show exceeded all our expectations. The turnout was phenomenal, and the enthusiasm from both suppliers and visitors was truly inspiring. It was fantastic to see such a diverse range of products on display and to witness new partnerships forming right before our eyes.”

Customers also shared their enthusiasm for the event …

John, catering manager at Carlisle College, remarked, “I’ve been getting some excellent advice and ideas about new products. I order online as it’s so easy, but it’s great to see the products for yourself, getting some ideas and it’s good to see the samples.”

The proprietors of Finkles Restaurant in Kendal (pictured left with David Harrison) commented: “It’s a really busy show! We’ve got some great new ideas. We place our orders via phone but we still have a great relationship with David. We’ve been a Pioneer customer for 39 ½ years. The butchery products are just amazing quality.”

With this year’s show setting a new benchmark, there is already eager anticipation for what we will bring to the table next. If this record-breaking event is anything to go by, the future of foodservice in the region is looking brighter—and more delicious—than ever.
