Carlisle Ambassadors – Retail, Leisure & Sport

On Thursday 6th September, Carlisle Ambassadors held their Autumn meeting at The Shepherds, Carlisle. The theme for this meeting was ‘Retail, Leisure and Sport’ highlighting the excellent work, projects and investment taking place in the city.

Our managing director, Graham Jenkins, gave a short speech which gave attendees an overview to our new foodstore opening next year. Graham also spoke about how Pioneer people make the business the great success it is and how our passion for supporting local producers and suppliers will grow with the opening of our new retail venture.

Housed in a beautifully restored farm close to Bassenthwaite Lake, The Lakes Distillery opened in December 2014. Their vision was to produce world-class spirits that will be global brands recognised and respected around the world.

Their range of premium spirits now include whisky, vodka, gin and a range of liqueurs.

Celebrating Carlisle College learners

On Thursday 21st June, we were honoured to attend the Carlisle College Awards 2018. The event was held at the college and was celebration of hard work and achievements of all the further education learners. After a delicious meal, which was made by the talented catering students, the certificates were awarded by, Grant Glendinning, principal of Carlisle College.

Once again, we were proud to be involved with the awards event and were a keen sponsor of the Maths Prize. Our managing director, Graham Jenkins, went along to the event to hand out the prize.

Fun run fundraising beats last year’s total!

Our team of runners who took part in this year’s Eden Valley Hospice’s Colour Run raised a whopping £594 for the Carlisle charity; beating last year’s fundraising total.

Natalie Bingham, corporate relationship co-ordinator at the hospice popped along to our office on Wednesday 13th June to complete the handover of funds and she had this to say:  “We were delighted that Pioneer decided to sponsor our Colour Run for the second year in a row. We’re award winners again!

On Thursday 7th June, we were once again successful in scooping a prestigious award.

Over 170 people gathered at the May Fair Hotel, London to celebrate the Family Business Awards of the Year 2018.  We were shortlisted for two award categories and emerged victorious with the accolade of ‘North of England & Northern Ireland Family Business of the Year’.

Sponsoring the Cumberland Show as it celebrates its 180th year

Once again we are proud to be sponsoring the locally-renowned Cumberland Show as it celebrates its 180th year this summer. Graham Jenkins, our managing director, is also president this year which is a great honour!

This year the annual event is held on Saturday 16th June at Brisco, near Carlisle and will see the Cumbrian community gather together to celebrate agriculture and rural life.

As ever, there will be a range of livestock classes including beef, dairy and sheep; heavy and light horses, donkey, show jumping, and horse driving competitions; poultry classes; dog show; and vintage vehicle classes.

Our Colour Run team is limbering up!

It’s now only days away until our team of athletes heads for Carlisle Racecourse to take part in this year’s Colour Run and they’re limbering up ready to go!.

Raising vital funds for Eden Valley Hospice and children’s charity Jigsaw, the team is looking forward to taking part in the 5k fun run. With a splash of colour and a heapful of bubbles, the runners will be taking part in the event held on Sunday 13th May.

Last year we raised over £500 for the local charity and this year we’re hoping to smash it!
