Supporting chefs of the future

Kit Graves, director of Lake District Hotels Ltd, came up with a masterplan to update Keswick School’s food technology facilities. They were so out of touch with today’s professional teaching kitchens, that it required a complete refit. Kit’s idea to turn the room into a TV style Bake-off kitchen was agreed, which then followed with 18 months of fundraising activities from Lake District Hotels Ltd, to raise the required amount of £30,000.

Congratulations to Carlisle Living Award winners!

On Friday 6th September, Carlisle Living held their annual awards event. The evening took place at The Halston in Carlisle and was attended by the hard-working people of Carlisle who have helped to shape the city over the past 12 months.

Once again, we were proud sponsors of the Food & Drink category. This category sees those whose dedication, innovation and hard work throughout the year has contributed to Carlisle becoming the destination of choice for fine food and drink.

We attended the event as many of our customers were present and shortlisted for prizes. Our sales director, David Jenkins, was on stage to […]

Durham students work with world class chocolatier

On Wednesday 16th April, we visited New College Durham with award-winning chocolatier and pastry chef, Mark Tilling. Our account manager, Hayley from HB Ingredients, arranged the visit with Leah Walker from the college to engage the students in the art of creating fine desserts from chocolate.

Mark is a world class chocolatier who has appeared on Channel 4’s Creme da la Creme and most recently Extreme Chocolate Makers. He demonstrated a few tricks of the trade and then the students had a practice; the results were amazing!

Sausage sales raise an appealing amount!

During March, we held a special promotion on one of our favourite recipe sausages to help raise funds for Hospice at Home, Carlisle & North Lakeland. We raised a grand total of £475 to help this worthy cause.

For every kilo of our special Pork & Marmalade Sausage sold, we vowed to donate £1 to the Carlisle-based charity. The sausages are a popular choice for our customers! They are made to our own Cumberland sausage recipe and laced with quality marmalade from Claire’s Handmade.

The initiative tied in with the World’s Original Dalemain Marmalade Awards which were held during March. The festival raises funds every […]

Colour Run 2019 sponsors

We are proud to announce, for the third year, we are sponsoring Eden Valley Hospice’s annual Colour Run!

Each year the Carlisle-based hospice organises the fun run at Carlisle Racecourse to help raise vital funds to maintain it’s services. The run takes place on Sunday 12th May this year.

The Colour Run is a 5km event which sees participants run, jog, walk or even toddle through a sea of paint and bubbles. This is a family fun event and we’ll be entering a team of runners to help raise money too. Last year our team raised just under £600 which is a marvellous total!
