Chris Barrett
FYR, North Lakes Hotel & Spa, Penrith

Provenance of our meat is crucial to us. We believe in using only the the finest ingredients sourced responsibly and ethically. We currently buy all our chicken, game and seafood from Pioneer Foodservice.
Working with John at Pioneer is more like a collaborative process than just a supplier/customer relationship. It’s great having the kind of relationship where I can come up with a creative idea, I can ring John and he’ll visit. We’ll discuss options and ideas; it’s a two-way conversation.
I also like to research new products using the online site as it helps with inspiring new concepts. I also find it easy to view my own pricing on […]

Supporting music in the north east

We’ve been a long-standing supporter of Sage Gateshead for over five years now and we’re delighted to be renewing our partnership.

This gives our colleagues a chance to visit and enjoy a wide range of musical events at the venue; a place many will visit with their friends, partners, etc for the first time for a great night out!

And, in some more exciting news, last week, Sage Gateshead announced their new name and branding …

The Glasshouse International Centre for Music is a popular music venue based on the banks of the River Tyne in Gateshead.

We were delighted, once again, to support the event by sponsoring the ‘Best Casual Dining Experience’ category.

This year’s event was held on Thursday 14th September at Carus Green Golf Club, Kendal and was attended by the shortlisted finalists. All the finalists were voted by the Cumbria Life readers which makes this event so special. To be nominated by customers and supporters rather than a panel of judges certainly make the accolade significant!

When the Caterforce marketing team visited our Carlisle depot …

On Thursday 3 August, the marketing team from Caterforce paid a visit to our head office in Carlisle.

Caterforce is a buying and marketing group of which we are a proud member, and we’ve worked harmoniously with our colleagues based in Macclesfield for many years.

As part of getting to know each other to enhance and build a closer working relationship, the marketing team came along for an extensive tour of our offices, warehouse, bakery, butchery and foodstore.

They learnt about our 175 year-old history and were amazed how the business had flourished and grown in that time. We talked […]

Carlisle Utd sponsorship to continue for further five years

We’re delighted to announce that our sponsorship of Carlisle Utd is set to continue for another five years as the team starts the new season in League One.

We have been a long-term supporter of the football club with the sponsorship of a major stand entering its tenth year. From groundboards to match day catering, our support has helped the club many years prior to this too.

Chief executive of Carlisle Utd, Nigel Clibbens, says:

” Pioneer Foodservice is one of the club’s longest supporting businesses. It has provided commercial sponsorship over many decades. Crucially, it has also provided financial backing […]

A frozen Belgian adventure

On Monday 17th July, two of our buying team colleagues took a trip over to Belgium to visit a couple of our frozen produce suppliers.

Organised by Caterforce, the buying and marketing group to which we belong, the trip was an educational one so we can gain a greater understanding about production, supply and relationships between our businesses.

Charlotte Walker, Buying Manager, and Emelia Stewart, Junior Buyer were invited to visit the fields and factories of d’Arta and Clarebout, both producers of our own brand high quality frozen foods.

The first day involved a visit to d’Arta.

This […]
