Quality Assurance

Food safety is paramount in all aspects of our operations.

Our in-house quality assurance team oversees controls ranging from product traceability and metal detection of meats, to stringent hygiene practices and product specifications.

We provide detailed allergen and dietary information to all our customers. Whether it comes to labelling our products, providing the information via information sheets or online, we ensure that our customers can make informed choices about the products they buy.

Our foodservice customers can access our online Erudus system which provides all the information on our product range. Contact us to register as an Erudus user.

If you have any queries about allergen, dietary and nutritional information and your responsibilities you can always contact our Quality Assurance department on 01228 523474 or

We work hard with our supply partners to ensure you are satisfied with the quality and integrity of our products at all times but just occasionally there may be quality issues where products are faulty, defective or out of specification.

Who we work with:

In 2017, we entered into a Primary Authority Partnership with Cumbria Trading Standards. In April 2023 the local councils changed and we are now working with the newly formed Cumberland Council. We are glad to have been able to continue this strong partnership which ensures that we comply with all legal requirements regarding weights, labelling, traceability and much more.

Our on-site cutting plant and wholesale storage and distribution of ambient, chilled and frozen goods are routinely audited by the Micron2 against the STS Food Suppliers & Distributors Standard. Ongoing confirmation that we work to this standard is key to us maintaining our NHS, care home and education customers contracts.

In 2017, the responsbililty for approval of our on-site cutting plant was transferred to the Foods Standards Agency (FSA). Our site had its first full inspection in July 2017, with full approval given in December. We continue to be inspected and we always meet the exceedingly high standards required by current food legislation.
