Practical advice provides inspirational menu ideas

John Cowen, our butchery sales manager, recently visited The Anchor Hotel in Haydon Bridge to give their chefs some inspiration and ideas for fresh meat products to feature on their menus.

The Anchor Hotel in Haydon Bridge prides itself on providing its customers with first-class locally sourced food.

John’s role often calls for him to give hands-on practical advice to our customers. During his visit, John helped them produce five individual dishes which included pork cutlet French trimmed, French trimmed rack of lamb and oxtail pie with sirloin cannons. Ecstatic with the outcome, the team have decided to initially adopt three of the dishes for the […]

Xmas Jumper Day fundraising total announced for Eden Valley Hospice

This year we celebrated Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 15th December and chose a charity which is close to our hearts, Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle.

We can reveal the grand total of our fundraising efforts is £166.

Natalie Bingham, corporate fundraiser for the hospice visited us to complete the handover. Natalie says:  ‘’ We were delighted that Pioneer chose to support us by donning their Christmas Jumpers! Not only is it a bit of festive fun on the run up to Christmas, it also helps raise valuable funds for the hospice at the same time.

The team managed to raise […]

Xmas Jumper Day 2017

Once again, we celebrated Christmas Jumper Day with enthusiasm!

On Friday 15th December, we all came to work in the smartest Christmas themed jumpers we could find – some even donned inventive pudding and snowmen outfits. This year more of our staff took part, including several staff from our Gateshead depot.

Although, the day was full of fun there was a sincere note about the event as we were raising vital funds for Eden Valley Hospice. The hospice provides care to those affected by life limiting illnesses throughout north Cumbria.

We would like to thank all staff and […]

Halloween fun down on the farm

Halloween fun down on the farm

Once again, Walby Farm Park helped children (and their families) celebrate Halloween in style.

Neil Milbourn and his staff had laid on a pumpkin trail and patch for children to follow and then pick their pumpkins. The children were then able to carve out their pumpkins and get creative.

We supplied Neil with over 4,000 pumpkins during the half-term holidays as he was expecting visitor numbers to be high – the day we visited, it was certainly busy and both kids and parents were having a great time!

Creating links with a local supplier

On Tuesday 10th October many members of our staff visited The Lakes Distillery in Bassenthwaite. We are re-launching a working relationship with the Cumbrian firm.

We have stocked their whisky, vodka and gin for some time now, however, we are excited to be launching a new range of The Lakes Distillery vodka and gin liqueurs.

It’s important that our sales, marketing and retail staff get know our stocked products so they are able to pass on their knowledge and expertise to customers and they gladly attended a tour of the distillery and undertook a tasting session.

When we took over the hotel 12 years ago, the existing chef was already using Pioneer as a supplier. We decided to stay with them and for the time we have been with them, we can say that Pioneer has provided us with a faultless service. Their products are great value for money too.

I use Pioneer Foodservice for nearly everything on our menus. The food is great quality and deliveries are always on time.
Sue visits us regularly and she’s fantastic! She goes through the special offers with me and gives great advice. I regularly order online and it’s really good; the app is really handy.

Pioneer provides a great all-round service. Our delivery driver is thorough and professional but has also built up a rapport with the staff so he feels like a colleague rather than a delivery man. Our sales area manager goes above and beyond to help us out, whether it’s with tracking down a product or personally bringing us emergency stock, she’s got it covered.
