Cumbria Family Business Awards finalist

We are proud and very excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for an award in the Cumbria Family Business Awards: Retailers and Wholesalers.

Over 100 firms entered the prestigious awards and judges met last week to shortlist their finalists. The awards celebrate and encourage family business across the county. If we win our category we will go on to the national awards in London!

We will be attending an awards event at Garden at Eden, near Carlisle, on Friday 9th March, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Good luck to all the other finalists and we’ll see you on the night!

Practical advice provides inspirational menu ideas

John Cowen, our butchery sales manager, recently visited The Anchor Hotel in Haydon Bridge to give their chefs some inspiration and ideas for fresh meat products to feature on their menus.

The Anchor Hotel in Haydon Bridge prides itself on providing its customers with first-class locally sourced food.

John’s role often calls for him to give hands-on practical advice to our customers. During his visit, John helped them produce five individual dishes which included pork cutlet French trimmed, French trimmed rack of lamb and oxtail pie with sirloin cannons. Ecstatic with the outcome, the team have decided to initially adopt three of the dishes for the […]

Xmas Jumper Day 2017

Once again, we celebrated Christmas Jumper Day with enthusiasm!

On Friday 15th December, we all came to work in the smartest Christmas themed jumpers we could find – some even donned inventive pudding and snowmen outfits. This year more of our staff took part, including several staff from our Gateshead depot.

Although, the day was full of fun there was a sincere note about the event as we were raising vital funds for Eden Valley Hospice. The hospice provides care to those affected by life limiting illnesses throughout north Cumbria.

We would like to thank all staff and […]

Halloween fun down on the farm

Halloween fun down on the farm

Once again, Walby Farm Park helped children (and their families) celebrate Halloween in style.

Neil Milbourn and his staff had laid on a pumpkin trail and patch for children to follow and then pick their pumpkins. The children were then able to carve out their pumpkins and get creative.

We supplied Neil with over 4,000 pumpkins during the half-term holidays as he was expecting visitor numbers to be high – the day we visited, it was certainly busy and both kids and parents were having a great time!
